Alex has returned from a very eventful & successful trip to Los Angeles. While there, he worked extensively with an LA Acting Coach. Under his new management, he was able to get the ball rolling rather quickly. He got new headshots taken by celebrity editorial photographers J Squared Photography, got set up with Actors Access & LA Casting and started auditioning immediately after arriving in LA.. Shortly after arriving, Alex quickly booked his first audition, as the lead role in the short film "Daniel", a very touching film directed by Sandra Fregozo. Daniel, played by Alex, carries a butterfly jar to the river, recalling special moments that he had with his now deceased mother. The video has just been released & added to the videos tab on his site.

He ultimately signed with the commercial & theatrical departments at Abrams Artists. He was sent out on a few auditions before leaving LA, and was lucky to be called back for all. He booked 2 Little Caesars commercials (set photos available in the site gallery) and was placed on hold for a national Disney commercial. He was sent on one theatrical audition, to play a lead role as Russell Crowe's son in an upcoming film. After meeting with casting, he was sent to meet with Academy Award winning director Paul Haggis for consideration. While at Oakwood & being part of the Child Actor Program led by Rosie Forti, Alex had the opportunity to be seen by top casting directors, including the "dad" from Drake & Josh, Jonathan Goldstein, who is now a director for iCarly. He trained daily with the best voiceover artists, coaches & choreographers LA has to offer. He also continued his hip-hop training at Oakwood & with Camp Rock star Alyson Stoner. He was the youngest child actor to be chosen to participate in the Oakwood Talent Showcase and was awarded the opportunity to train at the Rage Complex in Los Angeles. The video of the performance can be seen on the video page. The Alex Madera Online Team has included several photos of our LA trip in our Gallery. You will notice that Jay Leno was filming for his new show & Alex had the opportunity to meet Mr. Leno. He made friends with some extremely talented stars in LA, visited all of the Hollywood sites & had an amazing time. Among Alex's favorites were the Santa Monica Pier, the Ashley Tisdale concert, breakfast at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel, the premiere & interactive promotional attraction for G-Force 3D at the El Capitan theater, running the bases at Dodger Stadium, Universal Studios Hollywood, Six Flags, and many many more fun experiences. You may see photos of all in the gallery.Premiere of Daniel Daniel premiered at the "Academy" in Beverly Hills. One of the most amazing nights in Los Angeles. New Happenings Since Our Return To Florida Alex direct booked a Scholastic Books print shoot. Photos are available in the gallery. Alex also was asked to play a small role in Barefoot Empire Films' newest short film entitled "Refusing Treatment". Alex was extremely excited to be reunited with Enrico Marcellino, who played a role in Alex's first film "Summer In December". This hilarious film is shot in the style of "The Office". It is about a man who checks himself into the hospital regularly but refuses to be treated. It is a metaphor for people that attend church every Sunday, but do not take it in. Alex plays a sick boy who is forced out of his hospital room. Alex is honored to be a part of any production Enrico is a part of. Alex has been put on tape for a lead role in a major feature film & for an ABC/Disney Pilot... tapes have been constructed using a fantastic new company who will film & edit your video submission professionallyWe also enjoyed watching "This Man's Life" entered in the Daytona Beach Film Festival.
Alex is now set up on IMDb and can be seen by clicking here

HE SAW HORSES - Alex was asked to return to do the voiceover for the film "He Saw Horses".
OUR NYC AUDITION EXPERIENCEA myspace friend of sent us a casting that seemed to fit Alex perfectly for a feature film that was being cast in LA/NY. We could not attend the audition, but submitted to the casting director, who responded that she'd like us to send a video submission using part of the script. It was at this time that I found out the movie was starring Meryl Streep, Steve Martin & Alec Baldwin. The casting director again contacted us, asking us to send hardcopies of his audition so she could submit to the director, the amazingly talented Nancy Meyers. While visiting Boston for the Xmas holiday season, we got some exciting news that they would like to fly Alex out to NY to read lines with Alec Baldwin for the director's consideration. They were kind enough to treat us to VIP accomodations; airfare, hotel & car service. A driver picked us up from our home taking us to the airport, and to every leg of our journey. We stayed in an amazing hotel in Central Park & Alex had a great audition. Unfortunately, he did not get the part, but we did get terrific feedback, saying that it all came down to "look" in the end, but he was one of the top few children considered for the part. It was an experience we will remember forever & are thankful for the opportunity!
UPDATES
The premiere of the film "He Saw Horses" was shown at the Aloma Cinema Grill in Winter Park for GradFest. It was the first time seeing Alex on the "big screen" along with his brother Tony & we had a fantastic time.
The premiere of "Soldier's Last Letter" will be shown Monday in Cocoa Beach
Florida Pool's Deluxe Swim Easy Arm Floaties are now available at Wal-Mart featuring Alex on the packaging.
Jasmine Rhey's Music Video should be available this month.
Pushing Sassy webisodes are now being shown on YouTube. Check out www.wayburnsassy.com for more information. The webisode that Alex is in should be airing this month.
A friend mentioned that she had seen Alex in a recent video for BJ Teddy Bear Club & Bible Stories. We are VERY excited about seeing this episode, and highly recommend the show to all parents of young children. It airs on the Inspiration Network on DirecTV & many DVDs are available for purchase.
NEAR MISSESHad a few close calls... was called back for a Heartburn Commercial and was called on a New Balance job in Boston, but was unable to make the trip, and of course, the "big" near miss... the big feature film. But regardless of these near-misses, we are thrilled to be a part of the process.
Thank you again for reading about the recent updates! This past week, we had some very exciting auditions & another coming up this week that I hope to be able to write about next blog entry!
November was a busy month for Alex & we are happy to give some announcements and updates!
PLANET BLUE -- This exciting new television show will feature 4 children who do their part to save the environment. Alex was cast for one of the main characters, and filmed last month. We are excited to give details when we are able to. Alex was able to work extensively in front of a green screen & also do voiceover. It was a wonderful experience.
BJs PRINT JOB -- Alex was booked for a print job for BJs. He had recently worked with the "mom" and "dad" cast for the shoot at a previous photoshoot. Alex was so excited about seeing them again.
HE SAW HORSES -- We were called by some fantasticly talented Full Sail students about playing a main role in their senior thesis project, an amazing short film. He plays a dramatic role about a boy sent to an insane asylum and his brother Tony also plays a small role in the film (playing his brother). I am anxious to post the footage when it becomes available to us. It is scheduled to be shown at the Enzian Theater in Orlando in 2009.
PUSHING SASSY -- This shoot was the most fun... think "Kids Say the Darndest Things". We were extremely excited about working with Wayburn Sassy, a VERY funny character. Alex & Tony, along with a few friends were interviewed individually by Mr. Sassy himself. The webisode will be available for viewing in 2009.
SOLDIER'S LAST LETTER -- Alex booked the role as a "young soldier" in a music video project with award winning Sue Dontell, who is the most fascinatingly wonderful actress/producer/director. It is expected to become available in 2009.
BJ TEDDY BEAR CLUB & BIBLE STORIES -- This television show airs on the Inspiration Network on DirecTV. He worked with a green screen & danced along to music in a music video for the show.
NEAR MISSES --The international job mentioned in the last blog was a Samsung job where he would have played the "child" in a manufactured family & would have required him to shoot in Seoul, Korea. An "actual family" booked in Italy, however Alex, along with 2 girls, were the top 3 considered for the role. PRETTY EXCITING!
UPCOMING BOOKINGSAlex is scheduled to shoot a commercial (details to follow) & will also be shooting again with the director of "Summer in December". This time, he will be playing a boy in a music video.
EXCITING NEWSAlex has been requested in NY to audition with a well-known actor for consideration for a role in an upcoming feature film.
We are also excited about working with a private acting coach at Universal starting in January.
